The first T20I between India and Australia is in progress at the moment. In the first innings, India managed a score of 161/7. From a spot of bother, it was Ravindra Jadeja’s late blitz that helped India cross the 160 mark. India were struggling at 114-6 after Hardik Pandya’s dismissal in the 17th over.

It was looking like India would not cross the 140 mark. However, Jadeja hit 23 runs off Josh Hazlewood’s 19th over and 12 more runs off Mitchell Starc’s final over to ensure India crossed 160. Earlier, KL Rahul had struck a half-century but failed to get support from any of the other batters.

Yuzvendra Chahal replaces Ravindra Jadeja

While Ravindra Jadeja was batting in the 18th over bowled by Mitchell Starc, a short ball struck him on the helmet. Further, Jadeja also injured his hamstring and was struggling to run between the wickets.

It was later informed by the BCCI in a statement that Ravindra Jadeja would be replaced by Yuzvendra Chahal as a concussion substitute as per ICC’s new rules. The statement read, “Ravindra Jadeja was hit on the helmet in the final over of the first innings of the first T20I. Yuzvendra Chahal will take the field in the 2nd innings as a concussion substitute. Jadeja is currently being assessed by the BCCI Medical Team.”

This means that Chahal will be eligible to bowl four overs in place of Jadeja in the second innings.
