India vs England 2021: India announce ODI squad; Krunal Pandya and Prasidh Krishna called up

India have announced their squad for the three-match ODI series against England which will take place in Pune from March 23. The two teams are in the middle of a hotly contested T20I series at the moment with the scoreline locked at 2-2. The final T20I will take place tomorrow before the teams leave in their bio-secure bubbles to the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

The three-match ODI series would be a welcome change for India before an extravaganza of T20 action that will start with the Indian Premier League (IPL) and culminated in the ICC T20 World Cup. However, there is a World Test Championship final for India to play in before they can think of the World Cup.

India announced their squad for the ODI today and there weren’t much surprises other than the call-ups to Prasidh Krishna and Krunal Pandya. There were reports stating that the two would be picked for quite some time now off the back of their good performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy where they were in top form. However, Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal who also were in top form have missed out.

Meanwhile, the likes of Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja have been deemed to be not yet ready from their injuries/commitments which sees them miss out. Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav have earned spots in the squad and so has Rishabh Pant.
