Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan has been in red hot form lately. Let it be the Indian Premier League (IPL) or in the domestic circuit, Ishan has been right on the money in the last couple of years. Kishan slammed 516 runs in 14 matches, averaging an astounding 57.33 while keeping a strike rate of 145.76 in IPL 2020. His brilliant season was rewarded with a call-up to India’s T20I squad for the series against England.

Kishan also smashed 30 sixes in the tournament, hitting the highest of the lot. Having emerged as Mumbai Indians’ leading run-scorer of the season calls for his inclusion in the national side arose. And the team management was quick to hand him an opportunity with the T20 World Cup around the corner. Along with him, his MI teammate also received his maiden national call-up for the upcoming series.

Following an emotional couple of days, Ishan took to Twitter to thank the fans and well wishers for their wishes. The Jharkhand lad shared that it is surreal to see his biggest dream being fulfilled. Ishan went on to promise that he will strive to further improve his game as he rises through the ranks.

The last few days I feel overwhelmed with all your love. Your support means so much to me. Thank you for all the kind messages you have sent me. It feels very special. Playing for India has always been a big dream for me and to be selected for #TeamIndia is a surreal feeling,” he tweeted.

I will aim to continue to work hard and improve. #Grateful,” he adds.

Furthermore, Ishan is in red-hot form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021. The match against Madhya Pradesh witnessed him hammer 173 off 94 deliveries with 19 fours and 11 sixes. He also shined behind the stumps as he took seven catches to bowl out the opposition for a paltry 98. It would be interesting to see how the young gun goes about his game on the highest level.
