India will lock horns with England in a four-match Test series at home and the first Test is scheduled to be held in Chennai from February 5. Both teams are fresh off morale-boosting defeats away from home in Australia and Sri Lanka respectively. Despite the same, India will be huge favorites because of the added home advantage and also their well-settled line-up that looks near-invincible on paper.

India will be buoyed by the return of skipper Virat Kohli who did not take part in the final three Tests against Australia. His arrival is bound to add fire to the batting line-up as well as the fielding set-up with regard to captaincy. England’s biggest worry in the series will be regarding how they can get Kohli out cheaply. If they do manage to do it consistently throughout the series, it will bode well for them in the series.

‘There is strength, depth and competition in Indian cricket’

Jos Buttler

England’s wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler spoke to India Today about Kohli’s return and the challenge ahead for England and said, “Virat would be coming back, had some time away from Test matches and he will be hungry to lead and play well, so it is going to be a great challenge.”

“Obviously, the Australian series really showed world cricket the amazing strength and depth in Indian cricket. To go and win that series in Australia, when you are missing Virat (Kohli) after the first Test and having so many injuries, just shows there is fantastic strength and depth, competition in Indian cricket,” he added.

“This side is in a little bit of a different stage in terms of journey, but certainly, getting towards that point. It’s an exciting time to take up such a challenge against the best team in the world in their home conditions,” Buttler concluded.
