Kuldeep Yadav’s childhood coach Kapil Pandey has condemned Team India’s selection policy in the ongoing Test series against England.

Pandey’s rage incensed after his nurtured player- Kuldeep Yadav didn’t feature among the three spinners that Team India chose for the first Test against England in Chennai.

India played three off-spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin, Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Nadeem – at the MA Chidambaram stadium where it lost the match 227 runs on Tuesday.

“Kuldeep Yadav is continuously travelling with them, suffering, yet they are not giving him a chance. There goes a proverb as ‘Ghar ki murgi daal barabar’ so you are not trying to understanding him, you are not looking at his numbers, you are treating him like a normal cricketer,” Pandey told SportsKeeda.

Pandey questions the greatness of the Indian Captain and Coach

“If he slightly underperforms even in one match, they sideline him. On the other hand, rest of the players are given so many chances. You are including the player who is not in the team, who hasn’t got preparation. Where is the greatness of the captain and coach? The player who has been regularly practicing with the team is not getting a chance.”

“In this series, the coach and captain played Washington Sundar because they felt he will partner Ravichandran Ashwin better. Only they know the reason behind this selection. Virat Kohli can dissect this logic, head coach Ravi Shastri also can explain it,” Pandey added.

Pandey backs Kuldeep and is still hopeful of him making a mark if he plays for the team. “But I feel Kuldeep Yadav is a bowler who can be played in any match, and should be played in any match. Because he is someone who has 24 wickets from 6 Tests, and has never taken less than four wickets in domestic cricket,” Pandey said.

Even the legend Sunil Gavaskar said that Kuldeep could be brought in for 2nd Test in place of Shahbaz Nadeem.

However, Kohli on Tuesday defended the team selection during the post-match presentation saying that variation in their bowling attack, and with two off-spinners in Ashwin and Sundar, Kuldeep would not have brought much to the table.
