Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant‘s wicket-keeping has been a subject of discussion and debate ever since he made his debut. Touted to be the long-term replacement for the legendary MS Dhoni, the youngster was always bound to be put under tremendous pressure. But the expectations of the fans has always been over the roof thereby ensuring that even when he does well, his performances go under the radar. Ravichandran Ashwin addressed this topic at a virtual press conference yesterday where he stated that Pant has to be encouraged at all times.

Pant was terrific behind the stumps during the second test against England that India won. He came under huge praise from skipper Virat Kohli as well as Ashwin for his glovework on a rank-turner in Chennai. England’s wicket-keeper Ben Foakes was terrific on the pitch as well which caught the eye of former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist who expressed his thoughts on the same.

Rishabh Pant thanks Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist had tweeted yesterday saying, “Yesterday it was Foakes, today it’s @RishabhPant17 #brilliant”. Rishabh Pant replied to the tweet today saying, “Thanks Means a lot coming from you”. This exchange between the two has since then, gone viral on social media.

Rishabh Pant will next be seen in action in the third test against England in Ahmedabad which begins on the the 24th of February. The test will be of huge significance especially with regard to the World Test Championship (WTC) as another defeat for India would be curtains to their hopes of making the final. England on the other hand would be out of contention if they don’t win the third test.
