Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has called for left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav to be included in the second Test against England without fail ahead of Shahbaz Nadeem. Despite the fact that Kuldeep was present in the squad, Nadeem was given a go in the first Test after being added to the squad after a late injury to Axar Patel. However, Nadeem flattered to deceive in the first Test which India lost surprisingly.

Nadeem picked up four wickets in the first Test but was guilty of bowling too many no-balls and giving away a plethora of boundaries to ease the pressure on the English batsmen. He also bagged a pair with the bat leading to calls from fans and experts for him to be dropped. It now seems likely that Kuldeep Yadav who hasn’t played a Test match in over two years will finally get picked.

Aakash Chopra spoke on his YouTube channel about India’s loss in the first Test and focused on Kuldeed Yadav’s exclusion saying, “It’s a given that Kuldeep Yadav should play in place of Nadeem in the next Test. In my opinion, he should have played in this match as well, but they didn’t do that, which is not right but play him now.”

“I feel the toss will be immaterial on the pitch that will be made for the next Test match so that the match does not go in the other team’s favour even if you lose the toss. So, expect a rank turner where the ball will turn from the very first day,” Chopra added “But in the Indian team, Kuldeep deserves to play and maybe Axar Patel in place of Washington Sundar. Although Sundar scored 85 not out, I am still saying that they may not play him in the third Test,” Chopra signed off.

The second Test between India and England is scheduled to take place in Chennai from February 13.
