After a long wait, it looks like that India has finally found a replacement for MS Dhoni. And that too not one but two players like the former captain have emerged in recent times. Given their recent exploits, Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan are well inline to fill the shoes of Dhoni.

While Pant has impressed one and all against the red ball, Ishan has been phenomenal in the shorter formats. The duo will be key for India with some big events in T20 World Cup around the corner and the one-day World Cup coming up. Former Indian wicketkeeper Saba Karim is all praises for the young guns.

“It seems like that. If the Indian team can get two Dhoni’s, there cannot be a bigger thing than that. The fearless and carefree manner in which both these players have played and they know what their roles are and showed amazing aggression and that too with calculated risks,” Karim said during a discussion on India News.

The southpaws are renowned for their attacking approach. And Karim is in awe of the way the youngsters have carried themselves in international cricket so far. He is confident that Pant and Ishan will go on to represent India across formats in the future. The former India international went on to hail the duo for their “match-winning ability”.

“Both the batsmen have always attempted to prove themselves as match-winners. Earlier Rishabh Pant proved that and now when Ishan Kishan has been given an opportunity, his mindset has also been similar.“

“So I feel India is blessed to have match-winning ability players like Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant in the shorter format of the game. I have full confidence that in the future Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant will represent India in all three formats,” Karim added.

Both Ishan and Pant have been very successful in the domestic circuit and in the IPL too. Having represented the country in the U19 World Cup together, Karim feels that their “foundation has been extremely solid”.

“Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant have both played the Under-19 World Cup for India in 2016. So their foundation has been extremely solid. They know their responsibilities in international cricket and how they have to prove themselves,” Karim further said.
