Rishabh Pant was the star of the show for India in the ongoing fourth and final test between India and England in Ahmedabad. Coming in to bat with the hosts in a precarious position, Pant showed caution and maturity to preserve his wicket and weather the English bowler’s storm before unleashing his natural game. Pant got into his element soon after he got to his fifty and raced to a well-deserved hundred.

Pant’s partnership with Washington Sundar was very crucial as it came at a time when India were on 146/6 in reply to England’s 205. The duo’s century stand however, ensured that India not only got past England’s total but also got a healthy lead entering into day 3 with the same only set to extend. Soon after his knock came to an end, Rishabh Pant was flooded with messages of appreciation. One such message came from former Indian captain and President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly speaks on Rishabh Pant

Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter soon after the second day’s play ended and praised Rishabh Pant writing, “How good is he? Unbelievable..what a knock under pressure…not the first time and won’t be the last time..will be an all time great in all formats in the years to come.keep batting in this aggressive manner .thats why will be match winner and special. (sic)

Given his current form and his fearless brand of batting, it seems like Pant is only going to improve. With plenty of years of cricket left, the wicket-keeper batsman might as well go on to become an all-time great as Ganguly has pointed out.
