India vs England 2021: Virat Kohli surpasses Aaron Finch and Kane Williamson to script records in fifth T20I

Indian captain Virat Kohli has added more feather to his cap in the ongoing fifth T20I against England. Kohli peeped Australian captain Aaron Finch to become the captain with most runs to his name in the shortest format. With 1464 runs to his name, the Indian captain tops the list which features some big names in Finch, Kane Williamson, Eoin Morgan and Faf du Plessis.
Finch is second with 1462 while Williamson and Morgan are next in the line with 1383 and 1321 runs respectively. Du Plessis, with 1273 runs, being a distant fifth makes up the top five. Following a slow start to the series, Kohli has been in sublime form lately. After being dismissed for a duck in the series opener, the Indian skipper has hit three fifties in four games to storm to the top of the list.

His splendid half-century in the second T20I saw him surpass Ricky Ponting as the captain with the highest runs across formats. Kohli breached the 12,000 run mark as captain to achieve the feat.
Most 50 plus scores as captain in T20Is
Enroute his unbeaten fifty in the final T20I, Kohli scripted yet another record. He surpassed Kiwi skipper Williamson to become the captain with most fifty-plus scores in the format. The list features the top five run scoring captains in the format but in a different order. Kohli leads the pack with 12 half-centuries.
Close at his heels is Williamson having breached the fifty-run mark 11 times as captain. Next up are Finch and Morgan who have achieved the feat 10 and 9 times respectively during their tenure as captain. Du Plessis yet again fins himself at fifth spot with eight fifty-plus innings.

Thanks to Virat’s fifty and Indian top order’s brilliant show, the hosts have put up a mammoth total of 224 for England to chase. Taking the field with six bowling options, India are favorite of sealing the game and taking the series home.
