In India‘s second innings during their 227-run defeat against England, a strange incident occurred when the bails got dislodged from their position just as the ball was being bowled leading to presumptions that it was a hit wicket. Only later did replays show that the bails had been dislodged by itself.

The incident happened during the 57th over of the innings with England needing just one more wicket to win. Jofra Archer came in to bowl and Ishant Sharma was on strike. After the ball was bowled, England noticed that the bails had been dislodged and started gathering together in celebration thinking they had won the toss. However, the batsman pointed out that he had not disturbed the stumps. The umpires then ruled it not-out after looking at replays.
