India vs England 2021: WATCH – Washington Sundar and Jonny Bairstow have a heated argument during the first T20I
Washington Sundar and Jonny Bairstow involved in heated arguement
The first T20I between India and England ended in disastrous fashion for the hosts as they were beaten with ease at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It all went downhill for India right from the very beginning as they never really got into the game. Ever since they lost KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in quick succession to leave themselves tottering at 3/2, they never recovered.
It was thanks to a lone battle waged by Shreyas Iyer that India could get to a respectable score of 124/7. In the chase, it was all too easy for England who came out all guns blazing and swept India aside in under 16 overs. Jason Roy top-scored with an explosive 49. The match also had a controversial moment when Washington Sundar and Jonny Bairstow were involved in a face-off towards the end of the match.
Watch the heated face-off between Sundar and Bairstow
The 14th over of England’s innings was bowled by Washington Sundar and the visitors at the time were well on their way to a facile victory. That was when Dawid Malan struck a delivery straight back at the bowler who was getting ready to hold on to a return catch. However, the ball hit Bairstow who was backing up in the helmet and the opportunity for a caught and bowled was missed.
Washington Sundar wasn’t pleased about it at all and said some words to Bairstow who then joined in leading to a heated argument ensuing. Umpire Nitin Menon had to step in and calm things down.
