India vs England: ‘Please play Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav,’ says Aakash Chopra

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra opined that Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav must play together during the ODI series against England. He mentioned that Kuldeep doesn’t play in Tests and T20Is, so, the team management should include him in the 50-over format.

“You can try what you want in fast bowling but in the spin department, you should please play both Kuldeep and Chahal because if you don’t play them here also, then what will Kuldeep do? You don’t play him in the Tests or T20s, if you don’t play him in the ODIs also then what’s the point,” said Chopra.

The cricketer-turned-commentator also questioned India’s team selection for the One Day Internationals. Chopra reckoned that what’s the logic behind excluding Navdeep Saini and Deepak Chahar without trying them in T20Is. He also shed light on Axar Patel’s omission from the side, despite him being there in the other two formats.

“The question that comes to my mind is that if Navdeep Saini was in the T20I team, then why not the ODI team. He didn’t play a single match, Deepak Chahar is another name. Axar Patel is in the Test and T20I teams but not in the ODIs, why so?” asked Aakash Chopra.

Dhawan should open in all three games: Chopra

Aakash Chopra said that Shikhar Dhawan must open in all three ODIs against England as he plays just a single format now. However, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has already confirmed the Dhawan-Rohit opening partnership for the upcoming series.

“Shikhar Dhawan should definitely open in all three matches in my opinion because he plays only one format now, so you should give him the chance to open,” said Chopra.
