Cricket pundits say pink-ball day-night Test matches are different, and the ongoing clash between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium proved it right! Starting the second innings during the second session of Day 2, Indian spinners toppled the visitors before the lights turned on, staggering England to just 81 runs, the lowest score by Team England against India in Tests.

The total aggregate 81, was too meagre that Team England topped the unwanted listed of their lowest Test scores against India. This low entrant surpassed their previous lowest score of 101 that happened at The Oval ages back in 1971.

In fact, the three lions won’t forget this match as even in their first innings of 112, they got themselves embarked in the low scoring list.

The wristy spinners exploited the conditions at the refurbished Narendra Modi Stadium, which assisted their spinning. Surprisingly, the pitch was so spin-friendly that Indian skipper Virat Kohli thought it unwise to give the ball to a pacer and try their luck.

The second England innings offered spectators more appeals, third umpire calls and review decisions than the cricketing stuff.

The local Gujarat boy Axar Patel dismissed two England wickets without giving them an opportunity to open their mark. His deceptive bowling continued and in total, he took a fifer, again!

The senior player Ravi Ashwin was the partner in crime with Axar who baked four England wickets to erode the visitors early. In fact, Ashwin even reached his mark of taking 400 wickets.

The young Washington Sundar who was given only one over, scalped a wicket.

England’s lowest score of just 81 runs against India has given the hosts a little target of 49 runs to chase in their second innings.
