For the first time in the history of cricket, the USA, one of the hosts of the T20 World Cup, created a major upset by beating Pakistan in the group stages of the tournament on Thursday (June 6) at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. One of USA’s match winners, Saurabh Netravalkar‘s LinkedIn profile, went viral after USA’s win by five runs.
Netravalkar was born in Mumbai and represented India in the 2010 U-19 World Cup alongside the likes of Indian cricketers like KL Rahul, Jaydev Unadkat, and Mayank Agarwal. He also played in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments.
However, the lack of opportunities made him move to the US where he got selected in the national team in 2018. The same year, he became the captain of the team.
He joined Oracle in 2016 as a Member of the Technical Staff and two years later, he became a Senior Member of the Technical Staff. He has been working full-time as the Principal Member of the Technical Staff since February 2022.
The U.S. just stunned Pakistan at the Men's T20 Cricket World Cup in one of the biggest upsets in the sport's history.

Saurabh Netravalkar’s performance in the USA versus Pakistan match
The software engineer-cum-cricketer did not fail to impress the cricket fans, especially those from India, whose rivalry with Pakistan has been well documented. Saurabh Netravalkar became the star of the match because of his bowling in the Super Over, which guided the USA to the historic victory.
After winning the toss, USA chose to bowl first and restricted Pakistan to 159/7. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was the top scorer with his 44 off 43, followed by Shadab Khan‘s 40 off 25. Netravalkar picked up two wickets (Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed) and conceded 18 runs in his four overs at an economy rate of 4.50.
With the help of captain and opener Monank Patel‘s 50 off 38, Aaron Jones‘ 36* off 26, and Andries Gous‘ 35 off 26, USA reached the total, scoring 159/3. The teams then played the Super Over, where the USA batted first and Pakistan handed the bowling responsibility to Mohammad Amir.
The hosts scored 18/1 in one over thanks to Jones’ 11* off six balls, and seven extras. From Pakistan, Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman came to chase down the target. Netravalkar dismissed Ahmed (four runs off three) on the third ball and later, gave three runs to the next batter, Shadab. Zaman did not get the chance to bat. Pakistan could reach 13 runs in the over and lost the match by five runs.
The USA will next play India on June 12, while Pakistan are also set to face India on June 9.
