Indian Hockey Team Captain, Manpreet Singh falls prey to Corona Virus

The Indian Hockey Team Captain, Manpreet Singh along with 3 other players have tested positive of the novel coronavirus. Besides Manpreet, defenders Surender Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, and drag-flicker Varun Kumar have also tested positive.
The players have reported to the National Hockey Camp in the Sports Authority of India’s National Camp of Excellence in Bengaluru, after more than a month’s long home break.
Manpreet Singh hopes to recover soon
SAI issued a statement by Captain Manpreet stating, “I am self quarantined on the SAI campus and I am very happy with the way SAI authorities have handled the situation. I am doing fine and hope to recover very soon.”
The entire roaster of hockey players were deserted at the centre for more than 2 months as the nationwide lockdown was imposed by the government.
However, all players including Manpreet who reported to camp were undergoing quarantine as per the Health Ministry Guidelines. The quarantined athletes did not interact with other athletes who were already present at the same camp.
