Winning a National Sports Award is considered to be the pinnacle in a sportsperson’s career. The National Award Selection Committee met on August 17th and 18th to finalize the list of recommendations.

The Committee included sporting legends like Virendra Sehwag, Sardar Singh, Deepa Malik, etc. But the Retired Justice Mukundakam Sharma-led selection panel had recommended a tally of 73 awardees to the Sports Ministry.

The ceremony would be held in the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi, on August 29. But given the strict and sensitive conditions, the ceremony would be held virtually. All the winners would be announced by the President Ram Nath Kovind
