The Middle East swing has ended, and now it’s time for the two Sunshine Doubles events in the United States. The first leg of the Sunshine events is the Indian Wells Masters, where Mirra Andreeva and Jack Draper will be playing as the defending champions.
Last year, Andreeva defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the finals, while Draper, after denying Carlos Alcaraz a three-peat, beat Holger Rune. Sabalenka is a two-time finalist at Indian Wells, reaching the stage in 2023 and 2025. In 2023, her opponent in the final was Elena Rybakina, who also defeated her in the final of this year’s Australian Open.
World No.2 Iga Swiatek is a two-time champion at Indian Wells, winning in 2022 and 2024 by defeating Maria Sakkari both times. She was last seen in action at the Qatar Open, where Sakkari knocked her out in the quarterfinals. World No.4 Coco Gauff has made the Indian Wells semifinal just once, in 2024. She last won a title at the 2025 Wuhan Open.
On the men’s side, Alcaraz is a two-time champion in the tournament, winning in 2023 and 2024, by beating 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev. The seven-time Grand Slam champion will be chasing his third title of the season following his wins at the Australian Open and the Qatar Open. He beat Novak Djokovic in the former event and later went past Arthur Fils in the Doha event.
Djokovic is also expected to play the first Masters 1000 of the season. He was last seen in action at the Australian Open. World No.2 Jannik Sinner has never reached the final in the event, making the semifinals twice, in 2023 and 2024. Last year, Sinner was forced to skip the event because of his three-month doping ban. The four-time Grand Slam champion, however, won the 2024 Miami Open against Grigor Dimitrov.
