Indiana Pacers led by Tyrese Haliburton eliminated the Knicks and Jalen Brunson in the Eastern Conference semifinals
The Indiana Pacers made history at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, as they shot a record 67.1% from the field to defeat the New York Knicks 130-109 in Game 7. The Pacers’ superstar Tyrese Haliburton and super sub T.J. McConnell led the team to victory, in the process eliminated the Knicks and thus sent the Pacers to their first Eastern Conference finals in a decade.
The Indiana Pacers had one of the greatest shooting halves in NBA history, as they shot 76.3% in the first half and 75% from 3-point range. All-Star Tyrese Haliburton drilled four 3-pointers in the first quarter, where he set the tone for the game.
The Knicks, however, tried to make a push in the third quarter, but the Pacers’ defense held strong. Unfortunately, during the game, Knicks’ star and best player in the East Jalen Brunson suffered a broken left hand during the third quarter, which sadly added to the team’s misery.
McConnell was instrumental in settling the team down and making plays, where he forced three Knicks turnovers and scored two baskets as the Pacers’ lead was never seriously threatened, and they cruised to victory.
The Pacers will now head to Boston to open the Eastern Conference finals against the favorites, the Boston Celtics on Tuesday.
