Insider hints that it will be a ‘surprise’ if Brock Purdy signs a similar contract to Dak Prescott
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network revealed that the 49ers and Brock Purdy are in the process of negotiating a new contract, but it will not be similar to Dak Prescott's $60 million extension with the Cowboys.

On Thursday, fans of the San Francisco 49ers will keep one eye on the TV during the draft and the other on the ever-developing news about Brock Purdy’s impending contract extension. They are on the verge of a big breakthrough.
Purdy is entering the last year of his $3.7 million rookie deal with the 49ers. He is currently one of the lowest-earning starting quarterbacks in the NFL. As per Spotrac, Purdy is set to earn $985,000 in 2025 with a cap hit of just over $5 million.
Both parties quickly want to settle on a number to focus on extending the contracts of other players. Owner Jed York views the 25-year-old as their franchise quarterback and believes he deserves to be paid like a top-10 quarterback.
However, there’s a big issue. The 49ers went on a spring-cleaning spree after the free agency market opened. Some fans believe they need the cash to sign players and keep some of the older ones, like tight end George Kittle. If York puts all the eggs in Purdy’s basket, then the Niners’ Super Bowl window might close for a few years.
NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco recently revealed that the 49ers offered Purdy a new contract, and it has been sitting on the table.
I don’t know how much involved Brock is. I’m sure the agent is shielding him from a lot of this stuff. But the offer the 49ers have made isn’t one that Brock Purdy’s side is inclined to take at this point, nor will they.
Matt Maiocco said
When I was on KNBR this morning, I was asked about Brock Purdy’s contract negotiations. Bottom line: Purdy’s side has not accepted what the 49ers want, and the 49ers have not accepted what the other side wants. That’s how negotiations work. In other words, nothing has changed.

Ian Rapoport provides an update on Brock Purdy’s contract extension
The 49ers kicked off their offseason training session earlier this week. Everyone was curious to see if Purdy would show up or hold out until signing a new contract.

As per reports, the Pro Bowl quarterback was at the training ground, practicing throws with some of the receivers. Surprisingly, Kittle was nowhere to be seen.
Brock Purdy and Fred Warner are among the veterans who have reported for phase one of the 49ers offseason program. George Kittle told me late in the season that he generally does not come for the first few weeks before the on-field work begins.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was among the guests on Thursday, right beside the draft stage at Rich Eisen’s booth in Green Bay. Eisen asked Rapoport to provide an update on Purdy’s extension.
I don’t wanna say that they are close, but they are at least at a close enough point where you can say, alright, I can see a deal getting done at some point.
Ian Rapoport said
Rapoport sounded relieved to see Purdy at the 49ers’ training ground. From his perspective, it’s reassuring that the quarterback wants to make the deal happen.
Eisen asked Rapoport to guess a number for Purdy’s contract. “Closer to Geno [Smith] or [Jared] Goff in terms of a number?” Rich Eisen asked.
Goff. I think it will be a $50 million… We’ll see if we get to mid-50.
Rapoport promptly replied
Geno Smith signed a two-year, $75 million contract, including $66.5 million in guaranteed money, and it could push up to $85 million with incentives. Jared Goff signed a four-year, $212 million contract extension with $170 million in guaranteed money.
Spotrac earlier projected that Purdy might sign a similar contract to Dak Prescott, who signed a $60.1 million per year deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Rapoport doesn’t believe Purdy will become the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history.
You never know, cause you never know a how a deal looks like but I would be surprised.
