Chris Paul‘s second stint with the Los Angeles Clippers did not go as planned and it was largely due to his broken relationship with head coach Tyronn Lue. Not only was the waive-off a huge surprise to the NBA world, but it was also the manner in which it was done as Paul was not informed about the franchise’s decision to cut him off.

There is no doubt that the former number four pick in the 2005 NBA draft is the greatest player to ever don the Clippers jersey. The 40-year-old is known for being vocal and not shying away from speaking his mind. But it appears that this attitude caused a rift between him and the Clippers staff over Kawhi Leonard during a game against the Dallas Mavericks.

There were also reports that Paul and Ty Lue were not on speaking terms. Although Lue denied any rift with the 12-time NBA All-Star, it did not stop the rumors of their fractured relationship. Paul had announced that the 2025-26 campaign would be the final chapter of his illustrious career, hence, the unceremonious ending was painful to many fans. But unfortunately, that is the reality of the NBA.

The Minnesota Timberwolves or the Houston Rockets are two teams that had been rumored to have a level of interest in Chris Paul. There’s going to be a ton of other teams that inquire about him simply because he’s on a minimum contract.

Paul will be able to provide leadership to both of these young squads as both of them are very much in contention to go all the way.
