Rafael Devers has once again become the talk of the MLB after making some huge comments. On Thursday, the Boston Red Sox star sounded off on the team management and refused to play in the 1st base position. An MLB insider thinks that he might now get traded from the team for this comments.
Last Friday, the Red Sox suffered a major blow as 1st baseman Triston Casas got injured. He ruptured his patellar tendon while running towards the first base. This injury turned out to be a season-ending one for Casas.
With a huge void on the 1st base, the Red Sox front office asked Devers to play as the 1st baseman. The Dominican international refused to do that and expressed that it was not “appropriate” for the team to ask him to move to this position.
I know I’m a ballplayer, but at the same time, they can’t expect me to play every single position out there…I just feel like it’s not an appropriate decision by them to ask me to play another position.

Earlier this year, Devers was transitioned from a 3rd baseman to a Designated Hitter (DH). The Boston Red Sox management gave the 3B nod to newly signed Alex Bregman and instructed Devers to play as the DH of the team going forward.
These new comments from him have once again caused a stir on social media. MLB insider Chris Rose thinks that the Red Sox could trade away Devers now.
I think he’s going to get traded. You have to remember that Craig Breslow did not sign off on the Rafael Devers extension. And I think he’s going to p*** off Rafael Devers to the point where he says, ‘Well, s*** he’s a $300M DH… Here we don’t need him.

MLB insider picks NL East team as trade options for Rafael Devers following recent controversy with Red Sox
The recent comments from Rafael Devers regarding the front office have sparked trade rumors across social media. While discussing this, another MLB insider has picked up a National League East team as a trade option for the Boston Red Sox and Devers.

After Chris Rose expressed his belief that Devers could be traded, Jake Storiale picked the Philadelphia Phillies as an option. While speaking about this on Friday’s episode of Talkin’ Baseball, Storiale expressed that the team will have DH Kyle Schwarber coming off the books at the end of the season. He claimed that the team could throw in Alec Bohm and some pitching prospects to land Devers.
The Phillies have been looking for that next step to elevate them in this now crowded NL as they have their core in their early 30’s.

Red Sox owner reportedly flew to met Rafael Devers for 1-on-1 discussion
Rafael Devers’ comments sent a shockwave across the MLB community on Thursday. The 28-year-old straight up declined to change position again. In the midst of this drama, reports have emerged that the Red Sox owner John Henry reportedly flew to met the superstar for a 1-on-1 discussion.

As per reports, Henry flew across to Kansas City, where the Red Sox are currently playing, to meet with Devers. According to MLB.com, General Manager Craig Breslow and team president Sam Kennedy were also on the plane.
According to Breslow, the team needed to have an “honest” productive meeting after what had unfolded on Thursday.
It was important based on the situation that unfolded yesterday to come out here and have an honest conversation.
