Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen scored one goal apiece to help Inter Milan beat Getafe 2-0 at the San Siro stadium. Inter Milan have booked a spot in the Europa league quarterfinals which will be held in Germany next week. Inter Milan will be involved in a single-match, neutral-venue tie, to be played at the Veltins-Arena in Germany. Although Inter Milan VS Getafe also took place in Veltins-Arena in Germany, which is FC SCHALKE 04’s home ground.

Getafe almost grabbed the lead through Nemanja Maksimovic’s header which was excellently saved by Inter keeper Samir Handanovic. Lautaro Martinez also almost got on the score sheet but was denied by two back to back saves from Getafe keeper David Soria.

Lukaku opened the scoring with a goal in the 33rd minute. The Belgian striker latched on to a long ball, holding off Xabier Etxeita and finished in the bottom corner. Getafe got a chance to equalize from the spot in the 76th minute. But a poorly struck penalty from substitute Jorge Molina helped Handanovic produce a fine save.

Christian Eriksen acted as an impact substitute as he capitalized on a poor clearance attempt from Djene Dakonam. Eriksen came on as a substitute in the 82nd minute. Eriksen blasted home Inter Milan’s second goal from eight yards in the 83rd minute.

Inter Milan’s opponent for the quarterfinals would be decided after the end round of 16 stage. Inter Milan will try to go all the way in the Europa League and lift the trophy for the first time in club’s history.
