The Paris Olympics 2024 will take place from July 26 to August 11th. Football games have however begun early, on July 24. France faced the United States in the first match of the men’s tournament at the Stade de Marseille and won 3-0. The women’s tournament began on July 25.
Events including skateboarding will take place at the famous Place de la Concorde, marking the sport’s Olympic debut. Later in the Games, breaking, also known as breakdancing, will take place. On August 9th, b-girls will showcase their abilities, and on August 10th, b-boys.
There will be 32 sports in all, including some brand-new ones like sports climbing and breaking. Seven locations in France, including Parc des Princes and Stade de Lyon, will host events.
10 Interesting facts about the 2024 Paris Olympics
1. Historic Gender Equality: For the first time ever, equal numbers of male and female competitors will participate at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. There will be about 10,500 competitors, with 50% of each gender represented.

7. Opening Ceremony Innovation: The Opening Ceremony will not take place in a conventional stadium for the first time. To accommodate a wider audience, the celebrations will now take place alongside the Seine River.
8. Financial Investment: France is investing about $10 billion in the Olympics. This budget is less than what was spent on the previous five Olympic Games.
9. Exclusion of Certain Sports: The Olympic Games in Paris will not feature baseball, softball, or karate. This choice is in line with the IOC’s objective to update the Games and give priority to international sports.
10. A New Era for Women in Sports: 329 medal events—152 for women, 157 for men, and 20 for mixed-gender events—will be included at the 2024 Olympics. By giving female athletes more exposure and opportunity.
