It appears everything was on smooth rails until Conor Mcgregor fell back to his brave “McGregor” ways again! The Irish fighter, Jon Jones, Mike Tyson, Theo Von, Dana White, and several others attended Donald Trump’s inauguration. The group also visited the gala and after-party in Washington, D.C. on Monday. Then, “Notorious” casually hit up US First Lady Melania Trump, leaving everyone stunned.
While in the US capital, the Irish MMA fighter has been rubbing shoulders with the country’s most high-profile right-wing supporters. But in his usual nonchalant splice of surprise, Conor McGregor managed to get on a phone call with US First Lady Melania Trump. While on his trip, he shared a snap on IG stories, and said he was ‘Congratulating the First Lady.’
He also shared snaps with ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro at the Donald Trump return saga. He also reposted some of the anti-LGBTQ+ congressional candidate Valentina Gomez’s stuff. However, it’s the notion of casually linking up with First Lady Trump that has everyone in stitches! Conor McGregor running weird is part of his charm. But lately, he hasn’t been a white knight.

The MMA fighter was fined €1,000 in 2019 for the assault of Desmond Keogh in a Dublin pub. A Dublin Jury found him guilty of assault on Nikita Hand in 2018. It thus included damages of just upward of €248,000 in damages (£206,000 /$260,000 all-in).
Many brands have dropped the Irish MMA icon as a brand pitchman. Yet he has been rubbing off on the Trump inner circle! Fans do not know how to make heads or tails of it.
Fight fans react to Conor McGregor linking up with the First Lady
Donald Trump was officially sworn in as president for a second and final at his inauguration on 20 January 2025. The three-time GOP Nominee has been making waves with his clemency powers since taking helm again. McGregor also flew out to the inauguration event with his coach John Kavanagh.
MMA notables like Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre came together. Journalist Lauren Sánchez went viral with her wardrobe with even techie Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Priscilla Chan playing on her plunging blazer. Carrie Underwood kicked off the inauguration. Even the likes of Usha Vance, Doug Emhoff, Kamala Harris, and JD Vance also went viral.
Conor McGregor mingling with prime MAGA figures is not that big. But that he’d casually call up and repost calling up Melania Trump is only his infamy. Here is what fans think:
Did not have this on my bingo card for 2025 and I'm really disappointed in myself 😂😂 "Your girls in me DMs!" -Conor

An aspirant to be the Irish President, the local haul has been supporting Conor McGregor as ‘Pride of Ireland‘ on chatboards. His 113-unit block in Drimnagh, for The Large Scale Residential Development (LRD) is a viral effort. He once told the Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTE) to have expanded a 21-home housing development.
Instead of nose-blows, his rubbing head with right-wing politicians is a good thing. McGregor’s right-wing sentimental growlings continued when he shared rambling social media posts on immigration, that Ireland should “deport”.
However, this just wasn’t it. Facetiming the First Lady Trump with a loveheart emoji was on no one’s socio-political/MMA bingo card. But given the recent allegations against him, fans are not a fan of this. Safe to say, it also means McGregor is doing any and every other thing but fighting lately.
