Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 6 wickets in a last-ball thriller in the Indian Premier League.

Put in to bat first by CSK, KKR got off to a fluent start as openers Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill notched up their first 50-run partnership. Following Gill’s dismissal, there was a bit of a wobble as the likes of Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh perished after showing promise. However, Rana kept going and ended up scoring a whopping 87 runs off 61 balls to take his side to a score of 172.

In the chase, Shane Watson struggled before getting out. But his fellow opener Ruturaj Gaikwad fresh off a match-winning half-century in CSK’s previous match continued his good form with another half-century. He was involved in a good partnership with Ambati Rayudu. But following their dismissals and MS Dhoni‘s dismissal, it was left to Ravindra Jadeja to finish the game for his side and finish the game he did as he struck 20 runs off Lockie Ferguson‘s 19th over and 15 off Kamlesh Nagarkoti‘s 20th.
