IPL 2020 DC vs KKR: Delhi Capitals triumph over KKR by 18 runs in a high scoring game at Sharjah
Delhi Capitals(DC) defeat Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) in yet another high-scoring game at Sharjah. DC defeated KKR by 18 runs after scoring 228 runs batting first.
Kolkata Knight Riders chasing a massive total of 228 runs managed to make 210/8 after 20 overs. New-comer Rahul Tripathi and KKR vice-captain Eoin Morgan tried to revive the KKR run-chase by getting the runs in the death overs. However, Anrich Nortje and Marcus Stoinis got the better of the two, which helped DC get their much-deserved win over KKR. Nortje picked 3/33 for DC and was the pick of the bowlers
Earlier Shubman Gill made another bright start but lost his opening partner Sunil Narine in the second over. Later Nitish Rana and Gill made a 64 run partnership for KKR who lost wickets regularly. Nitish Rana made 58 in 35 balls scoring four sixes and four boundaries in his innings.
DC score 228/4, Shreyas Iyer brings up the fastest fifty in IPL 2020
Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer made 88 runs from just 38 balls which propelled the DC’s score to 228/4 in 20 overs. Iyer also smashed the fastest fifty in IPL 2020 in just 18 deliveries for DC. He remained unbeaten in the match and ended up with a strike rate of 231.58.
Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan made a scorching start to the game after KKR allowed DC to bat first. Dhawan departed soon after scoring 26 runs in 16 balls. However, Iyer and Shaw took the game to the next level by hitting the big sixes. Rishabh Pant joined the skipper Iyer after Shaw lost his wicket and added important 38 runs to the DC side.
Andre Russel picked 2 for 29 runs while all other KKR bowlers including Pat Cummins went for runs.
Delhi Capitals have now won 3 three games out of four and are the joint table-toppers along with RCB with 6 points. KKR shifts to fifth place in the IPL 2020 points table. Dinesh Kartik led KKR have won two games and has lost an equal number of games in the tournament so far.
