Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has expressed his awe at Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and West Indies batsman Chris Gayle following his half-century yesterday. KXIP faced Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) yesterday at Sharjah. Choosing to bat first, RCB put 171 runs on the board. They raised a lot of eyebrows with their batting order as Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube were sent in to bat ahead of AB de Villiers.
In the chase, featuring in the playing XI for the first time this year, Chris Gayle made merry with KXIP captain KL Rahul. The duo comfortably took the side close to the target. There were some nervy moments at the end as the match went to the last ball. KXIP eventually pulled through courtesy a last-ball six by Nicholas Pooran.
Yuvraj all praise for the ‘Universe Boss’

While the match between KXIP and RCB was still going on, Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to express his admiration for Chris Gayle’s ability to hit sixes at will. He said, “If the Universe Boss middles the ball, it will land in Abu Dhabi from Sharjah”.
Yuvraj was also appreciative of the start provided by KXIP openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Like everybody else, he was also surprised to see AB de Villiers coming out to bat so late in the match. The tweet was posted before the match ended and hence Yuvraj expressed hope that Gayle and Rahul would finish the game. And finish they did.
KXIP face Mumbai Indians next on Sunday at Dubai.
