IPL 2020 KKR vs SRH: Kamlesh Nagarkoti makes his IPL debut aged 20 years
Young Indian speedster Kamlesh Nagarkoti has finally made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR). The 20-year-old pacer from Rajasthan made his IPL debut for KKR in match no. 8 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020.
After struggling with injuries for 2 years, Nagarkoti finally makes his start in the Indian Premier League(IPL). Nagarkoti was picked by KKR in 2018, however, could not feature in the next 2 years due to injury concerns.
Nagarkoti struggled for 30 months with injury in 2018 and finally made a comeback in IPL 2020.
Nagarkoti’s journey from U-19 Cricket World Cup to IPL 2020
Nagarkoti started his career from first-class cricket for Rajasthan in 2016. After an impressive performance in first-class cricket, he was picked up for the India side in the U-19 Cricket World Cup in 2018. It was in the U-19 world cup he made his name in international cricket. The tournament saw India lifting the U-19 World Cup under the leadership of Prithvi Shaw with Shubman Gill named the player of the tournament.
Constantly clocking the 140 kmph mark, he marked a fiery performance in the U-19 Cricket World Cup. Subsequently, Kolkata Knight Riders picked the young pacer to play in the IPL. He was picked up for 3.2 crores in the 2018 auctions but could not make his debut due to injury. Although the Knight Riders showed faith and retained the fast bowler due to the immense talent he possessed.
In his first game in IPL, Nagarkoti could bowl only two over and remain wicketless. His bowled two overs and conceded 17 runs without picking up a wicket. However, the match will be remembered for the brilliant comeback he made on the Cricket field. This could be the start of a spectacular journey for the 20-year-old pacer.
