IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes hints return, trains at Christchurch

In what could be a positive development for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and its fans, Ben Stokes has returned to practice at his hometown, Christchurch. England’s World Cup hero withrew in the middle of the series against Pakistan after his father was diagnosed with brain cancer.

The left-handed stylish batsman hit the nets, hinting at his possible return to the IPL. However, it is confirmed that he will not be available for the first few matches for his team.

Stokes will miss first few matches but will be available for the majority of the tournament, reports PTI. The all-rounder, who is currently in New Zealand, posted a picture of himself bowling in the nets.

The 29-year-old travelled in time and captioned the post: “Been great being in Christchurch where it all began for me.”

In the video, he was spot on in his line and length, with his delivery darting in and hitting the wicket.

Stokes left England for his ailing father and posted a picture after his surgery, along with his mother. After spending two months with his family, he hit the nets and showcased his skills.

Speaking about Stoke’s availability, Royals coach Andrew McDonald said that they will give their all-rounder “as much time as he needs”. McDonald added that he “doesn’t want to second-guess what will happen with him” and support his decision.
