Royal Royals (RR) captain Steve Smith has been declared fit for their opening match against last year’s runner-up Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tomorrow.
One the world’s best at the moment, Smith will look to repeat Shane Warne’s heroics with Rajasthan and clinch the Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The swashbuckling batsman is looking forward to lock horns with Chennai and start the tournament on a good note.
Looking to put on a good show against CSK, says Steve Smith
He said, “Chennai and Mumbai both have been two really strong teams for a long time now. We obviously watched a bit of the game the other night, the Super Kings played really well to get over the line in the end. Hopefully, we can put on a really good show and get our campaign off to a good start.”
RR coach Andrew Mcdonald also seemed excited over the availability of star batsman in their first match. He said, “Fantastic news that Steve is available. It’s fantastic especially on the back of some setbacks back in the UK. It’s obviously great to have your skipper available for the first game as I’ve said before we are in really good hands.”
