IPL 2020: Rohit Sharma returns to MI’s playing XI despite Sourav Ganguly’s claims that he is injured

MI skipper Rohit Sharma

Following more than a week of a plethora of speculations relating to his fitness, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has returned to the playing XI. Sharma was dropped from India’s tour of Australia scheduled to begin in November and there were rumors swirling around that it might be due to injury. However, it now seems like there are other reasons for the same.

Rohit Sharma’s MI are currently at the top spot on the points table. They will play in the Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals in Dubai for a shot at the IPL final.

Rohit back despite Sourav Ganguly’s claims

In what is a crunch match for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against MI today, MI rested their ace pace bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. It is noteworthy that Bumrah got his hands on the purple cap in MI’s previous encounter before Kagiso Rabada got it again yesterday.

The duo were rested keeping the mind the fact that the Qualifier 1 was just 2 days away and in a different city.

Rohit Sharma also came in instead of Jayant Yadav which raised quite a few eyebrows because of the fact that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had claimed earlier that Sharma was injured and that might have been the reason for him not being a part of India’s squad for their tour to Australia.
