IPL 2020: Trent Boult calls Jasprit Bumrah’s upbringing ‘crazy’, says he has got ‘some amazing skills’
Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah are without a doubt Mumbai Indians’ (MI) key factors to success in the ongoing IPL 2020.
Both of them were rested during MI’s clash with Sunriser’s Hyderabad (SRH). SRH had thrashed MI badly. So much that, skipper Rohit Sharma had called it “our worst performance in the season,“
Boult and Bumrah returned in the Qualifier 1 against Delhi Capitals on Thursday and reduced them to 0 for 3 in 1.2 overs. Chasing a target of 201 runs, Delhi could only manage 143/8 from their 20 overs. Boult finished with match figures of 2 for 9, while Bumrah scalped 4 wickets by spending 14 runs in 4 overs.
Bumrah also beat DC’s Kagiso Rabada tally of 23 wickets to become the new Purple Cap holder.
IPL 2020 MI bowlers: Boult in awe of Bumrah’s “amazing skills”
Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah have proved themselves as the best pacers in the world.
They have been on a roll in the ongoing IPL 2020. They share 49 wickets between themselves. Boult is 5 wickets behind Bumrah as he has bowled 16 balls lesser than the latter.
They have time and time again said that they have been learning from each other’s experience. However, there is one thing that Boult finds “crazy” about Bumrah.
In a video posted by MI, Boult is seen talking about Bumrah’s “crazy upbringing” and “tennis ball cricket” that he doesn’t know much about. Towards the end of the video, the Kiwi left-arm quickly expresses his awe of the “amazing skills” of the 26 year old.
“It’s probably one of the best things about being on this stage is meeting other fast bowers from around the world. Seeing how they operate. Jasprit is a phenomenal bowler. He is obviously experienced. He has played all around the world and he is very clear with what he is trying to do. He has a got a crazy upbringing. Playing a lot of tennis-ball ball cricket, I am not too familiar with how you play it but yeah, he has got some amazing skills,” Boult said.
Both of them will be looking to end their IPL season on a high. It would MI’s record-extending 5th IPL title if they win the final on Tuesday. Boult’s and Bumrah’s contribution during the match will be most important.
