The news comes after there two positive tests among the players in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp – Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier. Further, three members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) contingent in CEO Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and a member of the maintenance team had tested positive for the virus. A DDCA official reportedly spoke to InsideSport and said, “It’s confirmed that five DDCA ground staff tested Covid positive. They were on duty on the ground on the last IPL Match (RR vs SRH) at Kotla. Since they were on ground duty, there are chances that they must have come in contact with players and team staff.”

He further warned of there being more positive tests saying, “We are waiting for more reports. There were around 50-60 members on duty. The report will come in a day or two. There are chances of more positive reports.”

All five of the members being on duty during the match yesterday is a cause for concern and it remains to be seen as to what decision the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) come up with amid this sudden spike in cases in the bio-bubble that was initially thought of to be secure.
