IPL 2021: ‘It feels so good when you have a mixture of youth and experience’ – Rishabh Pant opens up as Delhi Capitals rise to the top of the points table

Delhi Capitals (DC) continue their great run in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 as they rise to the top of the table with a win over the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Another great start by their openers saw DC chase down a target of 167 with over two overs to spare. It was Shikhar Dhawan‘s 67 which over shadowed Mayank Agarwal‘s brilliant 99 on captaincy debut.
With a fiery knock that featured six fours and two sixes, Dhawan reclaimed the orange cap. It was an all-round show from the Capitals which saw them register their sixth win this season. While Dhawan led the way with the bat, it was Kagiso Rabada who starred with the ball. While the South African scalped three wickets, Axar Patel impressed one and all with a spell of 1 for 21 in his four overs.
“It feels so good when you have a great start each and every match,” Rishabh Pant
It was a third fifty run stand for the DC openers, Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw. Skipper Rishabh Pant is delighted with the way the opening duo has been performing off late. Pant feels that the perfect balance of youth and experience in the side is helping the players play with freedom.

“I think Shikhy bhai and Prithvi gave us a very good start, that’s why the innings looked much better. The first innings it was really gripping. The way they started was commendable. It feels so good when you have a great start each and every match with a mixture of youth and experience. You can see that everyone is doing so well around them,” Pant said following the game.
Pant’s debut season as the skipper of the Capitals has been smooth sailing so far. He asserts that the franchise has most of the things “sorted out”. DC features a plethora of options when it comes to fast bowling and Pant asserts that the competition in the side is benefiting one and all.
“Most things are sorted out but we need to try out a few options for the Kolkata matches. The competition in the team is very good. When you see, there is a lot of gun bowling that we have. I’m enjoying everyday, using my experience, using the seniors around me. We are trying to make an environment where everyone feels good,” he adds.
