IPL 2021 Auction: Full squad and list of players bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) began the auction for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) needing to fill the most number of slots. At the end of the day, they would be pretty satisfied with how they went about doing the same. They made a total of 8 acquisitions during the course of the auction with an exciting mix of overseas buys as well as uncapped Indian ones.

RCB had a good IPL season last year as they finished 4th. However, the usual problems crept in as they struggled with death bowling as well as an over-reliance on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers along with Devdutt Padikkal. Ahead of the auction, they chose to retain just 12 players and opted for a mini-revamp. The revamp got underway today with the buys at the auction.

RCB began the auction by making the first bid as they did it for Steve Smith. However, when the Delhi Capitals raised the bid, they chose to not continue the bidding. They then went on an all-out bidding war with the Chennai Super Kings for Glenn Maxwell and succeeded in getting him for 14.25 crores. They then followed it up by buying three uncapped Indians: Sachin Baby, Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Azharuddeen – all for their base price.

They were then involved in two more bidding wars for overseas all-rounders Kyle Jamieson and Daniel Christian, buying them for 15 crores and 4.8 crores respectively. They then ended the auction by signing Suyash Prabhudessai and KS Bharat for their base price.
