The voice behind the IPL auction Hugh Edmeades is back as IPL 2021 Auction is around here to kick off at 3 PM, on Thursday, in Chennai.

BCCI appointed the famous auctioneer in 2018 for the conduction of 2019 IPL auctions. He would be the moderator at the IPL 2021 mini-auctions as well.

Hugh Edmeades has conducted 2500 auctions in his 35-year-career

Highly interested in antiques, Hugh is known to have sold a wide range of items including Old Master, Impressionist & Contemporary paintings, fine furniture, Chinese ceramics & works of art, and film & sporting memorabilia.

Hugh’s swanky auction works include several historical collections, including those of H.R.H. the late Princess Margaret and the late Elizabeth Taylor.

As per reports, in 2004, Hugh conducted the auction of 88 guitars belonging to Eric Clapton raising a total of $7,438,624. He has been in many of such dealings such as Audrey Hepburn’s ‘little black dress’ from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Besides, his work in charity fundraising is no less. He is known to have conducted over 850 sales helping to raise over £97 million for numerous charitable causes. His benevolent work has taken him around the world to over 30 cities, including Dubai, Hong Kong, Casablanca, New York, Mumbai, Monte Carlo, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.

On Thursday, Hugh will be the auctioneer on the D-day at the ITC Grand Chola Hotel in Chennai. A total of 292 players will go under the hammer for the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL).
