IPL 2021 auction: Will Arjun Tendulkar be traded for a hot bid?
Arjun Tendulkar has recently made the headlines for his engagement with Mumbai Team in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. Earlier this month, he got a maiden call from the Mumbai Team and on Friday made a debut for Mumbai senior team while playing against Team Haryana. Though Mumbai notched a clinical win, young Tendulkar had a day off from the ball as he returned 1/34 in the three overs that he bowled.
Having now featured in a match for the senior Domestic Cricket, Arjun Tendulkar has now become eligible to induct himself into the auction pool for the upcoming IPL 2021. The left-handed all-rounder has played for India under-19 team, and Mumbai for different age matches on various occasions. He was even spotted with Mumbai Indians (MI) squad in IPL 2020 conducted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Primarily a left-arm pacer, Arjun has been quite frequently seen in Team India and Mumbai Indians’ net sessions. This has given him an extra edge and exposed him against the best in the country.
Which franchise is likely to eye Sachin Tendulkar’s son- Arjun Tendulkar?
As per the reports, the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see mini auctions likely to be held on 16th February. However, franchises looking to retain players must complete the process by January 20, as per BCCI guidelines. For Indian players who don’t have a contract and wish to be a part of the auction, they will need to fill the player auction agreement and submit it online on February 4 by 5 pm. The originals can be sent by post till February 12.
No doubt the 21-year old leftie speedster will be the preference for many franchisees, but here’s a look as to who is most likely to choose the young pacer in their squad.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), also known as the dad’s army, will surely keep an eye on the left arm pacer as most of their players are on the cusp of retirement. The management’s idea to revamp the team with the young blood, they will have card reserved for Arjun.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) ace pacer Dale Steyn, who has made himself unavailable for this season, might see Arjun Tendulkar in his pace. No doubt that the youngster can create havoc with Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini.
Besides, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) might fairly have a hawk’s eye on this young gun. The recent IPL season showed that these two franchises are batsmen heavy and lack quality bowlers. Fairly, they might add and nurture him in their squad.
The other franchisees Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) make little sense of inducting Arjun in their squad, as they already have quality bowlers backed with decent back strength.
