Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) notched up a comfortable win today over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they rode on a superb bowling display to topple their opponents. Khaleel Ahmed shone by picking up three wickets while Abhishek Sharma contributed with two crucial wickets as well. Similarly, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan kept it tight while also picking up a wicket which helped the side’s cause.

In the chase, Kane Williamson‘s addition to the side proved to be effective as the New Zealander ensured that there was no collapse after skipper David Warner‘s wicket which arrived only after the latter and Jonny Bairstow had given the side an excellent opening stand. Bairstow was named the Man of the Match for his half-century which involved patience and calculated risks.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar left the field today during the 7th over and did not return to bowl. He had taken the key wicket of PBKS skipper KL Rahul and it seemed strange that he did not return to bowl the death overs. However, it was clarified later that it was due to a thigh strain that he suffered while bowling. He is now likely to miss the side’s next match which would be a huge blow for the side that has just notched up its first win.

SRH’s next match is on the 25th of April and it will be against a resurgent Delhi Capitals who have been in terrific touch. In the absence of their ace bowler, the Orange Army might find the going tough. It is noteworthy however, that Bhuvneshwar Kumar hasn’t had the best of starts to the tournament as he has picked up just 3 wickets in 4 matches at an average in excess of 40 which he would want to improve upon sooner rather than later.
