With the COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc in its second wave in India, there has been an increase demand for oxygen supplies. Suffering from a problem of shortage, the country is in a dire situation at the moment with various countries offering help and concern. With devices like oxygen concentrators not being easily available, several procedures and time is being required to procure them.

In one such case of procurement, a bizarre mix-up happened when an oxygen concentrator meant for a COVID-19 patient in Delhi that was supposed to reach by air from Bangalore to Delhi went missing. It was then found in the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) camp with nobody knowing how it happened. However, IndiGo then clarified that a mix-up had happened.

According to The Indian Express, the oxygen concentrator was meant for a COVID-19 infected 68-year-old man in New Delhi. His son was the one who had dispatched the device from Bangalore to Delhi. When the flight reached the airport, the baggage was not found. This led to the persons concerned alerting the individual and the authorities, leading to a frantic search in the airport for the same.

It was then that a Chennai Super Kings player found it in the camp and handed it over to the authorities. IndiGo released a statement about the same saying, “As per the CCTV footage, the box was taken off the belt by another airline porter and got mixed up with the baggage of their passengers. These bags belonged to the players of the CSK IPL team who had arrived on a Vistara flight at the same time.”

CSK meanwhile, upon arrival in Delhi played a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad yesterday and came up trumps.
