With the trade window of the Indian Premier League (IPL) open till February 4, teams have started doing their transfer business. Following the transfer of Daniel Sams and Harshal Patel from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), it is Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who have come up with the next piece of business.

They have acquired the services of 35-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Robin Uthappa from Rajasthan Royals (RR). Uthappa had a below-par IPL season with RR last year as he notched up just 196 runs from 12 matches. His batting order was changed quite a lot throughout the tournament and the Indian international managed to look promising only when he opened the innings for his side.

‘Robbie is our newest Bat-Man’ – CSK

The official Twitter handle of the Chennai Super Kings took to Twitter to announce the news of the trading of Robin Uthappa. The post had a picture of Uthappa with the CSK jersey edited on top of him reading “Yellove Suits Robbie“. The tweet was captioned, “Robin is our newest Bat-Man! Welcoming you with Yellove. Vanakkam.”

It remains to be seen where Uthappa would fit in to the side with the wicket-keeper slot already sealed by skipper MS Dhoni and plenty of options for openers available.
