Rajasthan Royals (RR) cantered to victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a comprehensive performance at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With the win, RR climbed to the 6th spot on the points table from 8th while KKR were pushed to the bottom spot. In what ultimately proved to be a drab contest, RR came up with an assured performance led by Chris Morris and Sanju Samson.

The latter scored a patient knock of 42 to anchor the chase in the second innings after the former had picked up 4 wickets to help restrict KKR to just 133/9. It was a top-notch bowling performance from the pacers which played a crucial role however, on a pitch that had something in it for them despite the previous matches not being so at the same venue.

Chris Morris was awarded the Man of the Match for his four-wicket haul and speaking about the same, he said, “Just a clear mind (what worked for him). In the previous game with those guys going as well as they were, the mind gets cluttered. Today wasn’t the easiest wicket to bat on as you saw in both innings. But to keep it as simple as possible with the odd change of pace. Just my turn to do well today I think.”

Speaking about RR missing a lot of their players through injury, Morris said, “Obviously those guys are massive losses. We’ve got the right personnel in place. We have to find a way to lift ourselves. Have to almost find a motivation and our motivation as a team is that there’s a lot of suffering going on. We’re privileged to do what we’re doing and we’ve got to keep people smiling. Had a lot of fun today on the field.”

“I said to Miller it’s the most fun 7 overs I’ve ever had in my career. The conditions always change, they’re always difficult against Dre Russ. Experience of playing against him has helped over the years,” the South African signed off.

RR’s next match is against Mumbai Indians on the 29th of April.
