First trade deals in IPL 2021

Harshal Patel

Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams who had a terrific Big Bash League in 2020 was the first to be traded. Sams did not get much match-time during the 2020 edition of the IPL as he was not preferred over the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer. He got his chances only when the latter was dropped and when Anrich Nortje was rested. In the few chances that he got, Sams couldn’t do justice to his abilities.

The second to be traded in was Indian all-rounder Harshal Patel who was also one of the DC players who didn’t get a lot of chances to shine and in the limited chances received, flattered to deceive. With both players going to RCB, the franchise are expected to give match-time to them, especially to the former considering the fact that Chris Morris, a similar all-rounder has been released.
