Hooda, who finished his knock at 64 runs in 28 balls, idolises skipper KL Rahul. The latter also played a brilliant knock of 91 runs in just 50 balls to help his side post a massive total of 221 on the board. Hooda mentioned that Rahul backed him during the innings and he loved batting with the PBKS captain.

“As a captain and as a senior player, KL Bhai was very supportive, he supported me and backed me. I like KL bhai’s batting, I like it very much, the way he looks forward to a game, the way he approaches a game. It was the first time I batted with KL bhai and it was fun batting with him,” said Hooda in a video posted on Punjab Kings’ Twitter handle.

The team management promoted Deepak Hooda up in the batting order as he came in at number four. The Baroda cricketer thanked the franchise for showing faith in him. Hooda added that he took the crease with an attacking mindset to go after the balls bowled in his area.

“My mindset was pretty aggressive. If the ball is in my area. I will go for it. I feel blessed about the innings but at the same time, I really want to thank the Punjab Kings, the way they have supported me, made me bat up the order and when I delivered there, it feels nice,” said Hooda.
