After defending their title in 2020, Mumbai Indians are eyeing to register a hat-trick of trophies during the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Former India wicket-keeper batsman and MI’s talent scout Parthiv Patel reckoned that the Rohit Sharma-led side has players for all pitches. Patel said that the Mumbai-based franchise doesn’t need to tinker a lot with their playing XI.

“I don’t think Mumbai Indians will be thinking of where they are playing next. All the teams would be thinking about where they are playing first and you know, try and get their best team forward, try and get their best XI on the path. If they are playing in Chennai, you might expect some spinner but from the Mumbai Indians’ point of view, I don’t think they have to tinker a lot with their playing XI,” Parthiv said on the GAMEPLAN show on Star Sports.

Parthiv Patel spoke in volume about the bowling line-up of Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL’s 14th edition. He reckoned that with two premium fast bowlers in form of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, the team has the other bases covered too. The availability of Pandya brothers, Kieron Pollard and Rahul Chahar provide the much-needed depth to the side.

“Hardik Pandya is bowling quite a bit now, almost bowling 4 overs, Pollard bowls his slower ones really well, which might be useful on a Chennai wicket. And obviously, Rahul Chahar had an outstanding IPL, a couple of outstanding IPLs and hence, he was picked for India. Krunal Pandya’s four overs, his form in domestic cricket, so I can go on and on about it,” Parthiv added.

The five-time champions are all-set to kick-off their IPL 2021 campaign with the season opener. MI will lock horns with Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
