Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) skipper Eoin Morgan has been fined an amount of Rs. 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during the loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) yesterday. The high-scoring thriller at the Wankhede Stadium took nearly four hours to complete and it is KKR who were responsible for the same, as a result of which the fine has been handed out to Eoin Morgan.

CSK posted a huge total of 220 yesterday and yet, the Men in Yellow were in for plenty of nervy moments with the likes of Andre Russell and Pat Cummins going berserk with the bat. Despite being reduced to a score of 31/5 within the Powerplay, the lower order came up with some brutal hitting that got KKR near the target, but ultimately they fell short by 18 runs with Cummins running out of partners in the last over.

As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Mr Morgan was fined Rs 12 lakh.”

KKR find themselves at the 6th spot in the table, having won just one match out of their first four. Their next match will be against the Rajasthan Royals on the 24th of April.
