IPL 2021: SRH vs DC – Match 20, How can Sunrisers Hyderabad get their second win of the season today?

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost each of their first three matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) season this year. Botching up one chase after another, the Orange Army badly needed both their bowlers and batsmen to step up. That was exactly what they did as the bowlers did a terrific job in bowling out Punjab Kings (PBKS) for 120 before Jonny Bairstow and co chased it down with ease.

SRH’s opponents for today will be Delhi Capitals (DC) who have looked in excellent touch so far. Apart from the batting collapse against Rajasthan Royals (RR) which resulted in a last-over loss, the Rishabh Pant-led side has looked top notch. Led by some excellent batting displays by Shikhar Dhawan, DC have looked once again like title contenders. They would thus be difficult to defeat today.

On that note, we take a look at how SRH can defeat DC.

IPL 2021: SRH vs DC – Key for SRH #1: Top order must fire

Sunrisers Hyderabad brought in a fit-again Kane Williamson to their line-up in the win against PBKS. It was a welcome move as the SRH batting line-up was looking unstable. With the ice-cool New Zealander back, there is a semblance of balance to the side now.

However, the middle order after the overseas batters still looks shaky and hence, the top 3 must step up. Skipper David Warner and Jonny Bairstow would hold the key to not lose wickets early on due to the difficult nature of the pitch. Kane Williamson’s anchoring would be of critical importance and hence, the three hold the key for today.

IPL 2021: SRH vs DC – Key for SRH #2: Stop Shikhar Dhawan early

DC opener Shikhar Dhawan has looked in imperious touch so far in this year’s IPL. Apart from an early dismissal in the match against RR where he mistimed a lap scoop, the southpaw has looked near-unshakable at the crease. Even on the difficult conditions of Chepauk, the opener anchored the innings excellently in the win against Mumbai Indians.

The key for SRH would thus, be to pick up his wicket early. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar doubtful for the game due to a thigh strain, Sandeep Sharma might be picked and he could be the one tasked with doing so. Khaleel Ahmed has looked promising and he could also be the key to dismissing the in-form Dhawan and exposing the relatively untested DC middle order.
