IPL 2021: KKR vs CSK – Match 15, How can Kolkata Knight Riders bounce back with a win today?

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had an excellent start to their season as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Their side looked well-balanced and it seemed like they would continue the good form. However, two defeats followed and the side is now in a mild spot of bother. Things could change very quickly with one or two wins in a row, but as of now KKR would want to quickly bounce back.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on the other hand, are on a roll as they have won two in two now. They have been excellent in all three departments and seem like the CSK of old. They would be an upbeat bunch and stopping them could prove to be challenging for KKR.

On that note, we take a look at how KKR can beat CSK today.

IPL 2021: KKR vs CSK – Key for KKR #1: Overseas batsmen should come good

The bulk of the scoring by KKR in the tournament so far has been done by the inexperienced Indian top 3. The likes of Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi have been decent with the bat and their form has helped KKR to good scores with the bat. The strong (on paper) middle-order has however, flattered to deceive.

The likes of Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan and Andre Russell have looked woefully out of touch. Although the latter showed glimpses of his past self in the previous match, he has looked far from his best. The overseas trio must take responsibility and contribute with the bat to thwart the CSK bowlers to wrest control in the match.

IPL 2021: KKR vs CSK – Key for KKR #2: Use bowlers wisely

KKR did not use their bowlers well in the loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Varun Chakravarthy who had just delivered a two-wicket over was taken out from the attack when Glenn Maxwell despite the fact that the offie could have been used to build pressure on the Aussie all-rounder before he gets settled.

Similarly, Harbhajan Singh was used to bowl in the 19th over when AB de Villiers was going berserk despite the fact that Shakib Al Hasan who could turn the ball away from the right hander had an over left. KKR can’t afford to repeat these mistakes today against CSK and if they use their bowlers effectively, they could have a great chance of winning the match.
