IPL 2021: Imran Tahir responds to fan who asked him when he will play for Chennai Super Kings

South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir has been one of the best performers in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has featured in a total of 58 matches and taken a whopping amount of 80 wickets. A part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) outfit from 2018, the now 42-year-old has always delivered whenever called upon. He tasted excellent success in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the IPL.

However, from the 2020 season, Tahir’s match-time has dried up as CSK have gone for a settled overseas combination. The South African has barely got chances to play and yet, he is often seen cheering passionately for his side and even carrying drinks for the on-field players. In this season as well, Tahir has not played in any of CSK’s first three matches and it remains unlikely that he will be picked soon in the future.

A fan on Twitter posed a question to Imran Tahir today asking as to when he would be seen in CSK’s playing XI. The South African immediately replied to the same saying, “Thank you, sir. Best players are in the field and they are delivering and they should continue for the team’s benefit. It’s not about me. It’s about the team. I am extremely proud to be a part of this wonderful team. If I am needed some time I will give my best for the team.”

This reply from Tahir has been greeted with widespread admiration from fans across the globe for him embodying the spirit of unity in a team.

CSK play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow.
