With the Indian Premier League (IPL) just two days away, each team has been stepping up its preparations for the mega event. Delhi Capitals (DC) will be among the team which would be considered as one of the contenders for the title as the Ricky Ponting-coached team reached the final in the 2020 edition of the tournament before losing out to champions Mumbai Indians (MI).

This time around, DC have a new captain in the form of Rishabh Pant due to a shoulder injury to regular skipper Shreyas Iyer which has ruled him out of the tournament. The 23-year-old Pant is in the form of his life and the DC management would hope that the same would only spur him on to replicate the form in terms of his leadership on and off the field as well.

In an an chat video posted by Delhi Capitals, opener Prithvi Shaw who had a below-par IPL season last year spoke about head coach and former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting saying, ”Ponting is an extremely nice person. On the field, he is like a boss and off the field, he is like a friend. When Ricky Sir speaks, it feels like the Chak De India music is being played in the background.”

Shaw would want to regain his lost form this year following a disappointing tournament last year which was followed by a poor performance in the first test against Australia. Having shone in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Shaw has an important IPL season ahead to prove his worth.
